Artist's Commentary

“Ambassador II imagines the moment of first contact through a solitary figure confronting the viewer against a black ground. Intricate bands of red, orange and blue transform the body into an unfamiliar visual language, making the figure appear at once ancient and futuristic. Developed from Allan’s earlier concept, The First Contact Ambassador I, the painting creates a direct encounter: an emissary has arrived, but its origin, intentions and message remain unknown.”
