Artist's Commentary

“In Clara, portraiture becomes a fragment of an unfinished narrative. A woman in dark glasses and a black jacket occupies the foreground, while a neon motel sign and a shadowed figure suggest a nocturnal world extending beyond her. Strong contrasts of orange, red and blue create cinematic tension, yet no particular event is explained. Through light, atmosphere and presence, Allan leaves both Clara’s identity and the surrounding story open to the viewer.”
