Artist's Commentary

“Iramadeira began as an intuitive sketch in 2012 and was revisited by Allan fourteen years later. Painted on wood, the warmth and texture of the panel become part of the image, while its simplified asymmetry preserves the spontaneous character of the original drawing. The title comes from an affectionate name Allan used for his wife, Eva, when they first met. Rather than a literal portrait, the work is shaped by memory, intuition and emotional recognition.”
